Physical Therapy

Florida Orthopaedic Institute provides in-house physical and occupational therapy services for the rehabilitation needs of our patients. The very nature of our orthopedic practice often involves integrating patient care with physical or occupational therapists after seeing one of our physicians. Our goal is to offer immediate access to our therapy centers and to start treatment within 24-48 hours of a physician’s referral. This permits seamless care while allowing us to track the quality of your care. Our ultimate goal is for our patients to regain independence in everyday activities of life.

Physical Therapy Services:

  • Electrical Stimulation
  • Ice
  • Mechanical Traction
  • Moist Heat
  • Ultrasound

These services are paired with individualized exercise programs developed by our therapists. Our expertise in manual therapy allows a hands-on approach in working with joint and soft tissue restrictions through the use of soft tissue and joint mobilization.

Our Physical Therapists

Our Physical Therapists (also known as PTs) are highly-educated, licensed health care professionals who can help reduce pain and improve or restore movement. We also have physical therapist assistants (PTAs) who work under the supervision of a physical therapist. Often physical therapy can help avoid surgery and reduce the need for long-term use of prescription medications.

We teach you how to prevent or manage your conditions so that you can achieve long-term health benefits.

Your Physical Therapy Plan

We start with an examination process that includes:

  • Taking your medical history
  • An inventory of specific body systems
  • Performing tests and measures to identify potential and existing problems

After a thorough examination, we determine whether the problems to be addressed are within the scope of physical therapy. If so, we develop a plan, using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability.

Who We Treat

We treat individuals of all ages, from newborns to the very oldest – anyone who has a medical problem or other health-related condition that limits them from performing functional activities in their daily lives.

Also, our PTs work to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness and wellness oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapy services include education related to prevention, non-operative or conservative treatment, post-operative treatment, desensitization and sensory re-education, design and implementation of personalized home exercise programs, work conditioning, edema management, wound and scar care management and custom orthotic fabrication for the upper extremities.
