About Emily Burroughs

Emily is originally from St. Louis, Missouri. She earned bachelor’s degrees in Exercise Science and Athletic Training from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, before earning a master’s degree in Athletic Training from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. After graduate school, she completed a one-year athletic training fellowship at Washington University Orthopedics in St. Louis, where she worked in a clinical setting, assisted with bracing and casting, and assisted in surgery. Emily began working with Dr. Christopher Baker at Florida Orthopaedic Institute as a clinical athletic trainer before earning her Master of Medical Science from Saint Louis University and becoming a board-certified physician assistant. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Emily specializes in sports medicine and shoulder injuries. She has worked alongside Dr. Christopher Baker throughout her career at Florida Orthopaedic Institute and has experience as both a certified athletic trainer and a certified physician assistant covering high school sports in Pasco and Hillsborough counties. She is passionate about patient education and helping patients through every phase of their healing journey.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading, participating in CrossFit, and occasionally trying the flying trapeze.
