My philosophy in caring for patients is to consider the treatment I would recommend for members of my own family. I have a very conservative approach and always try evaluate the best treatment option before suggesting surgery.

Dr. Weinstein is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and dual fellowship trained in spinal surgery.  He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rutgers University, and received his medical degree from the Yale University School of Medicine.  Dr. Weinstein completed his Orthopaedic residency at the Yale University School of Medicine’s Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, a fellowship in spine research at Cornell University and the hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, and a fellowship in spine surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center under the direction of Dr. Frank Eismont.

Dr. Weinstein holds a position as an assistant professor of sports medicine and orthopedics at the University of South Florida.  He has published numerous research papers in both peer reviewed medical journals and textbooks, and has lectured at national and international spine meetings. His special interests are in cervical spine surgery.

During his free time, Dr. Weinstein enjoys the theater, opera, and reading, as well as a variety of outdoor activities. Mostly, he enjoys spending time with his family.

I found Dr. Weinstein to be a highly competent, knowledgeable and patient-friendly physician. His pre and post surgical care was, in a single word, outstanding. Needless to say, I am very pleased with my surgical result. Dr. Weinstein engenders a patient’s trust and confidence through his thorough and meticulous explanation of care options. Vitals Review

Dr. Weinstein spent a lot of time with me, discussing my problem, possible causes and potential resolutions. I can tell he really cares about what is best for his patients. Sometimes that means doing everything you can to avoid surgery and often it means changing your lifestyle. I went to him for the truth and I got it. I was looking for a well educated doctor who puts my health before his pocket and that’s what I got! I am very happy with Dr. Weinstein and his staff and I would recommend them to anyone!

After experiencing leg pain for several years, surgery on my lower back solved the problem. The pain is gone and I am regaining the ability to walk  and function normally. My thanks to all of you at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute!

My experience at Florida Orthopaedic Institute was nothing short of amazing. When I first walked into the ER I could hardly stand and they recommended I see Florida Orthopaedic Institute. I made an appointment and was seen by Dr. Weinstein. That day changed my life forever. He ordered an MRI which showed I had problems in my L5-S1 area. I tried injections, my disk blew out lodging fragments in my nerves. Dr. Weinstein ordered surgery, tried to repair the disk area and clean out the fragments and two weeks later another piece broke off. I dealt with the worst pain of my life for another year. The whole time Dr. Weinstein was there. Helping to control my pain which I know I was a pain in his rear, but he never quit. Had my L5-S1 fusion and woke up from surgery with the greatest spine surgeon ever at the foot of my bed. It was like he flipped a light switch. I was cured from the moment I woke up I know it. To this day some two years later I’ve never had a problem with my lower back. I will be forever grateful for Dr. Weinstein and his team. They saved my life. I’ll recommend FOI and Dr Weinstein to anyone. They are the greatest ever!

Dr. Weinstein did surgery on my spinal cord and replaced two discs. It was totally an amazing experience from start to end. He was very caring, very on top of things, and made me feel like I was his only patient at all times. He was so on top of things …I never had pain after or before surgery, which was a miracle in itself. No pain after is a true testament to me of his good work. I would recommend this man to anyone …. I have the utmost respect for him as a surgeon and as a person. Thanks Doc, you were great.
