About Dr. Nofsinger

Dr. Nofsinger’s academic journey began at the University of Michigan’s Honors College, where he earned a bachelor’s in computer science. He then pursued a master’s degree in computer science at Brown University. Dr. Nofsinger received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Following residency, he pursued a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Alabama.

Charles C. Nofsinger, MD is double board-certified in both Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. 

He currently holds positions at the University of South Florida (USF) as an Associate Professor and Fellowship Director of Sports Medicine. Dr. Nofsinger has been serving as the orthopedic team physician at the University of South Florida since 2006. He served as the team physician for the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tulane University.

Dr. Nofsinger specializes in treating shoulder, elbow, knee, and ankle injuries – with a focus on sports injuries, traumatic injuries and arthritis. He provides comprehensive care for athletes and active individuals of all ages, utilizing advanced treatments and personalized rehabilitation plans. His approach aims to restore physical function and performance, enabling patients to overcome injuries and return to sports or daily activities.

Dr. Nofsinger is actively involved in research within the field of Sports Medicine, contributing to the advancement of orthopedic care. He is known for his methodical approach to the history and physical examination of athletic pain.

Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Nofsinger maintains a variety of personal interests. He enjoys playing guitar with friends and participating in open mic nights. His hobbies also include surfing, racing cars, and working on his race car. Dr. Nofsinger values travel experiences with his wife, and they are parents to two sons currently attending college.
