About Hakeem Yousef
Hakeem is a board-certified Physician Assistant with more than 10 years of experience in neurosurgery, spine care, and pain management. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of South Florida and completed his Physician Assistant studies at AdventHealth University in Orlando. He began his clinical career with Ocala Neurosurgical under the direction of Dr. Jacob Freeman, where he developed a strong foundation in patient care and gained extensive experience managing a wide range of neurosurgical conditions. He later joined Tampa General Hospital, one of Florida’s leading academic medical centers, where he worked in both neurosurgery and the Neuro Intensive Care Unit. In this high-acuity environment, he cared for patients with complex neurological and spinal disorders while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. His commitment to excellence earned him a nomination for Advanced Practice Provider of the Year.
Hakeem currently serves as the lead provider in the Spine and Pain Clinic at Florida orthopedic Institute. His clinical focus includes spine disorders, neurological conditions, and comprehensive pain management. He is dedicated to improving access to specialty care and believes patients should not experience unnecessary delays when seeking answers for their pain. His goal is to ensure patients are evaluated promptly and guided to the most appropriate treatment pathway, whether that includes pain management interventions, physical therapy, advanced diagnostics, or surgical consultation. He takes an individualized, patient-centered approach, emphasizing listening, education, and collaboration to develop treatment plans tailored to each patient’s goals. He treats every patient as he would a member of his own family, with the goal of restoring function, reducing pain, and improving overall quality of life.
Outside of work, Hakeem enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. He is an avid sports fan, particularly of basketball and football, and enjoys staying active through sports and family activities. He is also committed to community involvement and outreach and values opportunities to serve and make a positive impact in the community.
