About Dr. Elsenbeck Jr.

Originally from Philadelphia, Dr. Elsenbeck earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine, graduating among the top of his class and receiving induction into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society in recognition of his outstanding academic achievement. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD—one of the military’s premier training centers for orthopaedic surgery—where he also completed a year-long research fellowship resulting in multiple publications. Following his residency, Dr. Elsenbeck served as a staff orthopaedic surgeon at Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning from 2020 to 2024. There, he provided care to active duty soldiers, retirees, and their families. He was also the primary orthopaedic surgeon for the elite U.S. Army Rangers and Air Force Special Operations rescue jumpers, managing high-level injuries among some of the military’s most elite performers. While at Fort Benning, he established a reputation for excellence and performed the first shoulder replacements in the base’s history. After 11 years of distinguished service in the U.S. Army, Dr. Elsenbeck went on to complete a Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship at Florida Orthopaedic Institute. During his fellowship, he was one of the first surgeons nationwide to participate in MAKO robotic-assisted shoulder replacement surgery.

Dr. Michael Elsenbeck is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with specialized expertise in shoulder, elbow, and knee conditions.

Dr. Elsenbeck treats a wide range of shoulder, elbow, and knee conditions, ranging from everyday joint pain and arthritis to sports injuries and complex shoulder pathology. He has expertise in caring for high-performance athletes and elite military service members, with extensive training in arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques. His shoulder practice includes advanced arthroscopic procedures and total shoulder replacements, while his knee practice encompasses ligament reconstruction, meniscus repair, and a variety of other minimally invasive surgeries. From recreational and high-performing athletes to active adults and older individuals seeking to maintain mobility and independence, Dr. Elsenbeck is dedicated to helping each and every one of his patients return to the activities they value most. Whether it is walking the dog, playing golf, keeping up with grandchildren, or competing at an elite level, his goal is to restore function, alleviate pain, and enhance quality of life through individualized, expert care. Dr. Elsenbeck practices with a patient-centered philosophy, placing strong emphasis on education, open communication, and shared decision-making. He tailors each treatment plan to align with an individual’s goals, lifestyle, and values. Patients are kept well-informed and actively engaged throughout their care journey, fostering confidence and collaboration. Whenever appropriate, he prioritizes non-operative and minimally invasive options, reserving surgery only when clearly indicated. Known for his compassionate bedside manner, Dr. Elsenbeck takes time to listen, explain, and guide each patient through every stage of treatment and recovery—believing that clarity, mutual respect, and trust are essential to achieving the best possible outcomes.

Outside of work, Dr. Elsenbeck is a proud husband and father who values quality time with his family. He enjoys staying active through running, biking, working out, and golfing, and also appreciates the chance to unwind by attending professional sporting events, exploring new restaurants, fishing, and relaxing at the beach. He treasures time with his two sons and daughter, whether they’re playing baseball, sharing laughs, or simply enjoying each other’s company in everyday moments. Dr. Elsenbeck also appreciates the adventurous spirit of his wife, whose energy and curiosity help inspire many of their family’s most meaningful experiences.
