About Dr. Cottrell
Dr. William C. Cottrell is a board certified, Orthopaedic Surgeon and an Ironman triathlete and seven-time Boston Marathon finisher. He treats athletic injuries at all levels of competition specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopy. He performs rotator cuff and cartilage surgery, as well as computer-navigated total knee replacement and standard and reverse total shoulder replacement. He graduated from the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham. Other medical training consist of an Internship in General Surgery at Orlando Regional Medical Center and a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of South Alabama Medical Center. Dr. Cottell treats patients at our Clearwater and Bardmoor locations. He is fluent in Spanish and was raised in Hollywood, Florida.
Dr. Cottrell is a member of numerous organizations, including the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Arthroscopy Association of North America, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and local and state medical groups. He has had numerous publications in his sports field and is known for his many presentations. He has a history as a medical sports consultant and team physician.
Dr. Cottrell’s patients praise him on his attentive demeaner and his commitment in getting them back on their feet of healthy living. Dr. Cottrell is empathic to their needs because he is a cyclist, runner, and weightlifter. When he is not treating his patients and constantly on the move, he enjoys reading. He also loves traveling with his family.
