About Dr. Bernasek
Hip and knee replacement surgeon
Dr. Thomas L. Bernasek is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in primary and revision hip and knee joint replacement and adult reconstruction. Dr. Bernasek is a founding member of Florida Orthopaedic Institute and serves as the Director of the FOI Adult Reconstruction Fellowship, where he is dedicated to training the next generation of joint replacement specialists.
Dr. Bernasek received his medical training at the Creighton University College of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, and completed his Orthopedic Residency training at the University of New Mexico. After residency, Dr. Bernasek completed a fellowship in joint replacement and adult reconstruction at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Bernasek is a professor in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of South Florida College of Medicine and maintains active involvement in numerous orthopaedic research and development projects. He is widely published, with extensive contributions to peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international conferences. Dr. Bernasek is an examiner for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, as well as a trustee on the board of directors for the Florida Orthopaedic Society and the Foundation for Orthopaedic Research and Education.
With decades of experience, Dr. Bernasek’s clinical focus includes hip and knee replacement, revision joint replacement, and adult reconstruction. He is a member of several professional organizations and has been recognized among the Best Doctors in America.
