About Dr. Laurentin-Perez

Dr. Luis A. Laurentin-Perez is a fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity surgeon specializing in complex hand surgery, reconstructive microsurgery, trauma, and transplantation. He earned his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina, followed by nine years of training and practice in Critical Care and five years of combined General Surgery and Plastic Surgery training. He earned a Master’s/PhD in Plastic Surgery from the University of Louisville, where his research focused on transplant immunology, rejection prevention, hand transplantation, and composite tissue allotransplantation.

Dr. Laurentin-Perez completed his Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery in Louisville and served as a Senior Fellow for three years under pioneering hand surgeons Dr. Harold E. Kleinert and Dr. Joseph E. Kutz. His advanced training included the treatment of complex hand and upper-extremity conditions, trauma, reconstruction, and microsurgery.

Since relocating to the Tampa Bay area in 2007, he has cared for patients throughout Tampa, Wesley Chapel, Zephyrhills, Dade City, and surrounding communities. His leadership experience includes serving as Chair of the Department of Surgery at AdventHealth Wesley Chapel, where he continues to serve on the credentialing committee and is its current treasurer.

Dr. Laurentin-Perez recently joined Florida Orthopaedic Institute, where he provides specialized care for routine and complex disorders and injuries of the hand and upper extremity.
