Advanced Joint Replacement With Your Goals in Mind
No two patients are exactly alike – and neither are their treatment plans.
Dr. Hirshorn considers your symptoms, medical history, activity level and goals when developing a treatment plan. When surgery is recommended, he uses advanced techniques tailored to the individual patient and procedure.
His specialized training includes minimally invasive hip and knee replacement, revision joint replacement and complex hip and knee reconstruction.
For appropriately selected patients, hip or knee replacement may also be performed through an outpatient pathway, allowing patients to return home the same day with a structured recovery plan.
Hip Replacement
Hip arthritis and joint damage can make everyday activities, from walking and exercising to traveling and spending time with family, more difficult.
Total hip replacement replaces the damaged surfaces of the hip joint with implant components. The goal is to reduce pain and improve function, mobility and everyday activity.
Dr. Hirshorn has advanced fellowship training in hip replacement and minimally invasive hip replacement techniques.
Revision Hip & Knee Replacement
Sometimes a previous joint replacement requires additional treatment.
Revision joint replacement may be recommended when an existing implant develops a complication or no longer functions as intended. These procedures can be more complex than a first-time joint replacement and may require specialized expertise.
Dr. Hirshorn has advanced fellowship training in revision hip and knee replacement and complex joint reconstruction.
Outpatient Joint Replacement – Could You Go Home the Same Day?
Advances in joint replacement have made outpatient surgery an option for some appropriately selected patients.
Depending on your health, medical history, home support and the type of procedure you need, you may be able to return home the day of surgery as part of a coordinated outpatient pathway.
Your care team will help determine whether outpatient joint replacement is appropriate for you and develop a plan for your surgery and recovery.
