About Dr. Parvataneni
Dr. Hari Parvataneni grew up in Jamaica before training at some of the top institutions in the United States. He did a research fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery, Internship at the Mayo Clinic, Orthopaedic Residency at Lenox Hill Hospital (Northwell Health), and an Arthroplasty Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Parvataneni is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. His career has been dedicated to the highest-quality arthroplasty care and academic medicine. He has mentored more than fifty arthroplasty surgeons, been awarded seven teaching and mentorship awards, is a national examiner for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and serves on the editorial boards of several major medical journals.
He has proudly provided high-quality care for over fifteen years in Florida, recently as a professor at the University of Florida and as Arthroplasty Division Chief. His collaborative patient-centered work was pivotal in the department achieving its highest ranking ever by US News. He is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Parvataneni provides a full spectrum of hip and knee arthroplasty care, including outpatient, muscle-sparing, opioid-sparing and technology-driven surgery. He started the first Academic Outpatient Arthroplasty Program in Florida.
He treats each patient and family as he would his own and is keenly focused on patient outcome and experience, as evidenced by his top percentile ranking in Press Ganey Surveys.
Dr. Parvataneni spends his spare time with his wife, a physician, and their three children. He also enjoys outdoor activities (especially running), Florida’s beaches and springs. He loves reading and lifelong learning.

Very pleasant! I was told by NF emergency room doctor that I needed a hip replacement. I then made an appointment with Dr. Parvartaneni. After reviewing the X-rays the doctor said that I did not need a replacement. It was more likely that it was a combination of arthritis and/or bursitis. Dr Parvataneni is truly a supreme surgeon. He replaced my right knee. I was told by the PT my immediate recovery was due to his expertise. Especially, for me being 71 yrs. Dr. Hari Parvataneni, is an excellent orthopedic surgeon. He spends a lot of time with his patients and explains everything when surgery is determined, before and after surgery. He definitely concerned with the patient’s comfort and being informed. I have had a number of Orthopedic surgeries, and by far Dr. Parvataneni and his staff are Absolutely the best. I have liked this doctor from the very first office visit. I had surgery this past Thursday. I saw him pre-op. He saw my husband and grandson after my surgery and he followed up with me twice in recovery. Very impressed with his skill knowledge and his bedside manner. Dr Parvataneni was so helpful. He explained with a model prosthetic what was done by a previous Surgeon and helped me understand that surgeon’s surgery notes. I received better news than I ever could have imagined about my situation. The staff was super nice. Every single person who works there truly enjoys there job. They are so nice and caring. Not one of them mind helping you. They have found the right person for each position. Dr. Parvataneni, MD., is a superb Orthopedic surgeon who replaced both of my knees during the same surgery. As a nurse, I’m aware of details. Dr. P is a kind, ethical Dr. who listens well to his patient’s concerns. His pre-surgical preparations, including what to expect, the surgery itself, my recovery and rehab were excellent. Nursing care was excellent. I had no infection. In 5 weeks I was healed, no pain, with great range of motion and walking independently. My surgical scars are very thin, almost unnoticeable, My only regret was putting this surgery off too long, because of fear, lol. He is without a doubt the orthopedic physician in the state of Florida. He spends time with you and he listens to YOU and he finds out where to go from there. I have a leg because of him, when another Doctor wanted to amputate it. The first physician put screws in it. They started bending... He took my case and 14 years later I am still walking and I had a crushed Femur. It took 5 surgeries to get all the damage fixed but I have my leg!!! He is the best. I was told he fixes children with Cancer at one time. He never gets up set with me when I fall, he just gets me thru it. I'm 73 now.. Still walking.... Just saw him I fell, triped over a rug. He wants to know how things are, how your family is, and thoroughly explains everything in a manner that regular people can understand. He is very genuine and exceptional. Dr. Parvataneni was recommended to me by another Doctor who I highly respect, and I am thankful. He did a many year over due knee replacement and is has changed my life. The recovery was really fast with no issues, I have now been able to loose over 50lbs and blood has improved kidney function. I highly recommend him! I'm 73 years old and put off knee surgery for a long time mostly due to some of the horror stories from other patients. Those patients hadn't discovered Dr P and his staff. I can't express my gratitude enough for his skill as a surgeon. I went from hardly walking around my house to gardening...in less than a month. Total Knee Replacement was done with 2/10 max pain and only a couple of Tylenols a day for less than a week. Was walking unaided in 2 weeks and was 98% back to "normal" in 5-6 weeks. For five years Dr. Parvataneni told me I needed a knee replacement. The constant rubbing/arthritis was thinning my knee cap and it would get worse until I had my knee replaced. Instead, I did everything to evade surgery. I tried three stem cell shot therapies at Emory University and at Mayo, personal trainers and physical therapists. I went to every ortho surgeon in town and some out of town. When I could barely walk into the waiting room for my appointment, I gave up. I could see the writing on the wall and it was in the shape of a wheelchair. Dr. Parvataneni is articulate, funny, and never sugar coats anything. His care for his patients is for the long term. He doesn’t see me as another patient, but sees what made my case unique. After 15 years of knee pain, I have no knee pain. I can walk a guided tour or a hike without pain. I can swim and bike without pain. My only advice, is do not wait. Don't let fear keep you from a new chapter of your life .

I had already had significant knee surgery in 1977 to keep kneecap from dislocating. When I first saw Dr. Parvataneni he warned me that my surgery would be more painful and take longer to recover. After 2 stem cell therapies (Mayo and Emory) and when I could barely walk, I scheduled my surgery with Dr. Parvataneni since I had decided he was the best. Dec. 18, 2018 Dr. P did the surgery. He is a BRILLIANT surgeon. He was on the mark about my recovery but he was with me every step of the way. I am now walking at a good pace and with NO PAIN. Why oh why did I wait?
