About Dr. Villarreal

Dr. Eric Villarreal is an orthopedic surgeon with advanced subspecialty fellowship training in orthopedic foot and ankle surgery. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the renowned Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee, where he received comprehensive training in orthopedic trauma and foot and ankle surgery. He then pursued fellowship training in orthopedic foot and ankle surgery at the University of Colorado in Denver under the mentorship of nationally recognized foot and ankle surgeons Drs. Mark Myerson, Courtney Grimsrud, Marissa Jamieson, Dan Moon, Josh Metzl, and Ken Hunt. Prior to joining the Florida Orthopaedic Institute, Dr. Villarreal practiced in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Dr. Villarreal is board-eligible in Orthopedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Villarreal specializes in the comprehensive treatment of orthopedic foot and ankle conditions, ranging from sports injuries and traumatic fractures to complex reconstructive procedures and arthritis. His clinical expertise includes foot and ankle trauma, chronic ankle instability, Achilles tendon disorders (including achilles tendon ruptures), ankle arthroscopy, total ankle replacement, flatfoot reconstruction, minimally invasive bunion and hammertoe correction, cartilage restoration procedures, and forefoot deformity correction. He also has extensive experience treating complex fractures of the foot and ankle, including pilon, talus, calcaneus, and Lisfranc injuries.

Dr. Villarreal is committed to delivering individualized, evidence-based care and believes in partnering with each patient to develop a treatment plan that aligns with their goals, lifestyle, and desired level of activity. When surgery is indicated, he utilizes advanced techniques—including minimally invasive procedures whenever appropriate—to reduce postoperative pain, minimize scarring, and promote a faster recovery.

Dr. Villarreal has advanced training in total ankle arthroplasty, a leading treatment option for end-stage ankle arthritis, as well as minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery. His expertise includes modern techniques for bunion and hammertoe correction, tendon reconstruction, ankle ligament repair, cartilage restoration, deformity correction, and complex foot and ankle trauma. He remains committed to incorporating the latest evidence-based surgical innovations and technologies to optimize patient outcomes while preserving function and mobility.

Originally from West Tennessee, Dr. Villarreal and his wife, Tessa, have always enjoyed coastal living. They are proud parents to their daughter, Olivia, and their son, Archie, who was born in Florida. Outside of medicine, Dr. Villarreal enjoys spending time with his family, relaxing at the beach, weightlifting, cheering on Ole Miss football, and—most importantly—keeping up with whatever adventures Olivia has planned for the day.
