About Sean Gehring
Sean is a board-certified physician assistant specializing in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. He earned his Master of Medical Science from Nova Southeastern University and completed his undergraduate studies at Florida State University with a background in exercise physiology.
Sean practices alongside Dr. Canizares, focusing on sports medicine care. His clinical work spans postoperative management, joint injections, fracture care, and surgical first-assisting, along with orthopedic urgent care for acute injuries. Sean approaches each patient with a focus on getting them back to the activities they love, whether that’s competitive athletics or simply moving through daily life without pain. He believes in clear communication and setting realistic expectations, guiding patients through every stage of recovery from diagnosis to return to function.
Outside the clinic, Sean enjoys saltwater fishing, practicing jiu-jitsu, and weightlifting to stay active. He’s an avid football fan and enjoys watching the game in his free time. Sean lives in St. Petersburg, Florida, with his fiancée.
