Moseley Ruark – Patient Story

So about five years ago, I had my original knee replacement. And even from day one, I knew it was not going to work. The home therapist ended up saying, this is not bending. This is not right. And since that time, I’ve had a lot of pain, can’t sleep at night because if I roll over, it was very painful. I’d squeal and wake my husband and I could not go up and down stairs this whole time and I couldn’t stand to cook in the kitchen. So it was very bad.

The reason I chose Dr. Palumbo at Florida Orthopaedic is quite an interesting story because we have some good friends that have a good friend, a doctor, a brilliant doctor and researcher up in Boston who was visiting with our friends at the same time we were. And he noticed how I was walking and the difficulty I was having getting up and down the steps. He said you shouldn’t be living with this. And I said, well, I’ve kind of given up. I don’t think it can be any better. And he said, no, no, no, no. He says, I know this guy that I went to some residency programs with and he was always a top of his class. He was a top of everything. He’s brilliant. He’s compassionate. You need to go see him, I’ll help you make an appointment. And it was Dr. Palumbo. So I went and met with Dr. Palumbo and he said there were some things he didn’t like in the x-ray and he said, I can fix this. I had my surgery at Florida Hospital and from the preop sessions to the very end, I was so impressed with the care. I had a knee revision. It has worked already. I have had 117 degrees flexion when I’ve never had over 90. Since the surgery. I am looking forward to playing with my grandchildren again, being able to pick them up, which I haven’t been able to do to get down on the floor with them, playing with my puppy being able to sleep at night without crying every time I turn over. My doctor, Dr. Palumbo, I cannot say enough good about him. And the whole care team was excellent. I don’t think it could’ve been any better Kudos. To them.
