Doctor Profile: Christopher W. Grayson, MD
Dr. Grayson: Hi, I’m Chris Grayson. I’m one of the adult reconstruction surgeons at Florida Orthopaedic Institute. So as an adult reconstruction specialist, I specialize in hip and knee replacements. When I first evaluated a patient, I like to take a little bit of time to really get to know the patient by getting a true understanding of what activities they enjoy and things they like to do in life. I’m able to help tailor my treatment towards their life. I believe every patient should be treated as an individual. So at Florida Orthopaedic Institute, I’ve helped develop a new exercise program geared towards senior patients called senior strong. I saw a great need for some kind of preventative treatment program, uh, to help prevent falls in our older patients. So as an orthopedic surgeon in Florida, we see a lot of hip fractures and other fractures from falls. Unfortunately, we do not often get to intervene until after a fracture has occurred.
So I saw a need to develop some type of program to help prevent fractures and keep our seniors active and healthy.
So originally I’m from Louisiana. I was born and raised in Baton Rouge and attended Louisiana State University for both undergraduate and medical school. So after I completed residency, I chose to spend an extra year training in a fellowship in knee and hip replacements. I wanted to be able to provide the best quality care and the most cutting edge treatment techniques to the patients of a Tampa Bay. While I was at Florida, I met my wife, who is also from Florida. So naturally, Florida was where we were gonna settle down. So in my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family. My wife is also a surgeon, which means that every chance we get outside of work we want to spend with our young daughter, Hannah, who was 10 months old. We like to take her to parks, zoos, and enjoy all the lovely, uh, recreational activities around her.
As technology grows in orthopedics, it becomes more and more difficult to be an expert in the many different areas of orthopedics. One of the things that attracted me to Florida Orthopaedic Institute was that we specialize in an individual area by specializing in a certain area such as knee and hip replacements. I’m able to stay on top of the most current treatment options and give our patients the best quality care.
