A competitive, ‘young,’ 75 year old talks about her experience at FOI.
I started fencing in high school. I loved fencing for many reasons. It takes the physical prowess of an athlete, which I like, and also take the mental acuity. My name is Terry Abrahams. I’m 75 years old. I’ll be 76 in September. My knees started hurting a couple of years ago. I came to the Florida Institute via my chiropractor. He’s the ones that suggested that my knees were no longer fixable by him. When I went, I could hardly walk. And that got me. So that the majority of the time I walk, I fence, I dance. And so I’ve been a national champion for 60 and up and now I’m a national champion 70 and up. Because you can fence from the beginning of your life to the end. I plan on fencing to the end of mine.
