Zoe Gibbs, I mean she’s just one of my favorite patients. She’s a, she’s great, you know, young kid and she had a horrible injury.
Last April on Easter I was hit by my cousin on her jet ski while I was on mine. And she T-boned me from the side and it severed my left leg. Eight weeks in the hospital surgery after surgery and then more surgeries, after hours out of the hospital.
We tried to do everything we could to salvage her knee joint. This is where the rod is fastened to the bone with screws. And then so there’s her knee joint.
Dr. Sagi is the reason I have my leg below the knee right now. Part of the reason I’m alive too. By him saving my leg below the knee, I’m able to walk 10 times better. Words cannot describe how grateful we are for Dr. Sagi. He’s part of the reason that I’m going to be playing volleyball again. She’s been on her, her volleyball JV volleyball team for a couple of years and she’s hoping to make it to varsity this year. Amazing. I don’t think there’s another word that can describe that.
I’m Paul J. Choleva and I’m 50 years old I was a riding a Honda. There was hardly any traffic out. But then the last minute this one intersection I heard a screeching, I looked up and he said, Oh Lord, this is gonna hurt. You know? And so he hit us dead on. About two-thirds of the lower leg, front muscles and that were ripped off basically. Broken there, broken, there is missing some bone there. He’s a limb salvage. You know, I had a gut feeling with Paul that we could save his leg. Give us two stays, it was 13 surgeries to try to get the bone from being infected and making sure that, the graft they took the muscle out of my back to form a new leg. I still have my leg and I’m walking on it, you know? And that’s a miracle and a half there too. Every now and then you get people like Zoe and Paul that really thank you for what you’re doing and that makes it feel great.
