ZIMMER Biomet MYMOBILITY WITH APPLE WATCH CLINICAL STUDY:

Florida Orthopaedic Institute has been selected as the first group practice center in Florida to participate in the Zimmer Biomet mymobility® Clinical Study.

Many patients undergoing hip or knee replacement (some of the most common surgeries Americans undergo each year) have the opportunity to try the Zimmer Biomet mymobility app. Using Apple Watch® technology, the app connects patients and their surgical teams to deliver continuous data intended to optimize patient care and outcomes. This research project is one of the largest evidence-gathering clinical studies in orthopedic history with a target national enrollment of over 10,000 patients.

Zimmer Biomet’s mymobility Clinical Study will look at the impact of this mobile app on outcomes and overall costs for joint replacement patients. During the study, patients use Zimmer Biomet’s mymobility app with their iPhone® and Apple Watch. Researchers then combine patient-reported feedback with continuous health and activity data from Apple Watch to guide patients through pre- and post-op care to gain new insights that may impact the standard of care for these common surgeries.

Zimmer Biomet’s mymobility with Apple Watch app acts as a virtual and continuous care team on a patient’s wrist. The app has several features that use both Apple Watch and iPhone, including the ability for surgeons to send education and therapy reminders directly to the patient’s Apple Watch, real time monitoring of patient activity levels throughout the days and weeks while they are preparing for and recovering from surgery, secure messaging with the care team, and direct access to rehabilitation exercises via videos on their iPhone that can be done at home at a time convenient for you.
