My story is not unique, but I am so grateful for Dr. Bernasek and his staff, that I feel the need to share it! Knee replacement for me was delayed for 30+ years (my choice).  All the knee replacement horror stories convinced me that the procedure would be a nightmare.  For some reason retiring to Florida in May of 2017 convinced me that my quality of life was important and knee surgery for me was a necessity.  At 69 years of age staying mobile and active was important and finding Florida Orthopaedic Institute changed my life! Dr. Bernasek performed my total knee replacement surgery on January 16, 2018.  Preparing for the actual date involved incredible scheduling and planning on the part of Dr. Bernasek’s staff and the personnel at Tampa General Hospital, both before and after the procedure.  The level of professionalism on all levels provided me with the confidence to move forward. My recovery has been remarkable.  As of this date, February 16, 2018, I am walking unassisted and without pain.   Bring on the next 30+ years!
