Tampa, Fl. – August 2, 2019 – Florida Orthopaedic Institute (FOI) is proud to announce Evan Mitchum from Newsome High School as the ‘Athlete of the Week’ for the week ending August 2, 2019.
Mitchum, 15, is an incoming freshman to Newsome High School and a new asset to the Wolves’ defensive line. As a former captain of the Pinecrest Pilots, one of twelve teams in the Tri-County Youth Football and Cheerleading Conference (TCYFCC), Mitchum now seeks to make an impact in the world of high school football.
“I’m excited,” Mitchum said. “It’s a new change for me. It’s a new chapter in my life.”
The Valrico native plays as a defensive tackle, however has been known to switch to offensive tackle when the power is required. In only his third year of football, Mitchum says he still has much to learn. This is a challenge that he is prepared to take on.
“Work your best,” Mitchum said. “Eventually you’ll get to the top.”
Eager to see what the future holds for himself, Mitchum knows that he is ready and willing to take on any obstacle that life throws at him.
Mitchum is all about work ethic and believes that, with the right attitude and mindset, anyone can achieve their goals. He finished, “Just work hard. You’ll get there.”
