Jodi A. Shields, M.D., is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. She attended Northwestern University and the University of Michigan, and completed her medical degree from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago. Following residency at the University of Chicago Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital, Dr. Shields has been practicing in Florida since 1994. She has special interest in the rehabilitation of sports-related, soft tissue injuries. She also has extensive experience in Workers' Compensation and pain management. As a physical medicine specialist, Dr. Shields treats patients with any type of functional deficit. This includes children and adults with spinal cord injuries, head trauma, strokes, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, chronic pain, and amputation.

Dr. Shields created and oversees the Weight Management Program at Florida Orthopaedic Institute. It is the only weight management program in the Tampa Bay area that is performed by a physician who specializes in exercise. Her primary interest is in healthy nutrition and long term behavioral changes that ensure success. Dr. Shields is also an avid exerciser, running four to five miles at least four times per week.
