Position Summary:
At FOI, athletic trainers assist in providing therapy services in outpatient Orthopaedics under the direct supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. This includes implementing the plan of care through the utilization of clinical skills and treatment interventions. Therapeutic exercise, modalities, manual therapies, and other rehabilitative treatments are all examples of typical interventions performed by athletic trainers. It is the responsibility of the athletic trainer to maintain proper communication between the supervising therapist and other members of the therapy staff in order properly coordinate each patient’s care. The athletic trainer will work in a team environment along with other physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and other health care professionals. Athletic trainers may also utilize their skills and abilities through affiliation with local community, school, college, or professional sports teams.

Physical therapy services may include therapeutic exercise, modalities, manual therapies, and other rehabilitative treatments. Therapists will be responsible for the supervision and delegation of patient care responsibilities to other members of the therapy staff. The physical therapist will work in a team environment along with other physical therapists, physicians, physical therapist assistants, certified athletic trainers, and other members of the health care team. Therapists may also participate in community education and research activities in order to best serve our clients within our community.
