Diagnostics

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Florida Orthopaedic Institute (FOI) has two “Open” MRIs. Both are open on three sides and the patient can see and talk to our staff during the exam. This is much more pleasant than the conventional “Closed” MRI exam. Radiologists interpret the MRI and report the results directly to your FOI physician. We have found that our patients find it very convenient to have their MRI at FOI. The department makes every attempt to be flexible with appointment times. For more information on MRIs at FOI, please call (813) 978-9700, extension 7312.

Radiology

Florida Orthopaedic Institute (FOI) has both digital x-ray as well as conventional x-ray capabilities. All digital x-rays are stored in our computer system. All of the conventional x-rays are stored at our main office at Telecom Park. Any questions regarding x-rays taken at any of our facilities may be addressed by calling our main number at (813) 978-9700, extension 7257. Any x-rays taken elsewhere must be brought with you for your appointment at FOI. Without your previous x-rays, your appointment may need to be rescheduled.

Bone Mineral Density Testing (BMD)

Florida Orthopaedic Institute (FOI) offers BMD testing for our patients. Testing for Osteoporosis can help your doctor assess your risk for future fractures. This simple, painless and non-invasive test takes only minutes to complete. Our certified Clinical Densitometrist will review the results with you immediately following your scan. Together you can determine what life-style changes or treatment measures should be taken to reduce your chance of bone loss and possible future fractures. For more information about BMD testing at FOI, please call (813) 978-9700 ext 7312.

CT Scan

Florida Orthopaedic Institute (FOI) has a CT or CAT Scan at our Telecom location. This simple non-invasive procedure enables medical professionals to quickly and safely obtain sophisticated and accurate diagnostic information on your brain, chest, abdomen, pelvis, spine and extremities. A CT scan can be up to 100 times more sensitive than conventional x-rays so radiologists can distinguish subtle differences in soft tissues that may not be detected with regular x-rays. For more information about CT Scans at FOI, please call (813) 978-9700 ext 7312.
