Frequently Asked Questions

How is Florida Orthopaedic Institute’s Urgent Care different from a traditional urgent care clinic?

Florida Orthopaedic Institute Urgent Care is an extension of our regular orthopedic clinic. Most Care facilities and ERs charge higher amounts and insurance companies will charge a larger copay for traditional urgent care and emergency room visits. Since our Care is an extension of our regular clinic, the charges are same as a regular office visit in our clinic and patients pay their regular office visit copay.

Do I need to make an appointment to be seen at Florida Orthopaedic Institute’s Urgent Care?

Appointments are not necessary – just walk in during the hours.

What are the benefits of going to Florida Orthopaedic Institute’s Urgent Care versus traditional urgent care or emergency room?

You will be seen by Florida Orthopaedic Institute’s providers who have special training in orthopedics and a better understanding of orthopedic injuries. If you are treated at an emergency room or a traditional urgent care facility for an orthopedic injury, they will typically have you follow up with at an orthopedic office visit anyway. You can save time and money by going directly to Florida Orthopaedic Institute’s Care and be confident that your injury is being treated by a specialist in the orthopedic field. Additionally, wait times are typically much shorter than they would be at a traditional urgent care facility or emergency room.

Will my insurance company cover my visit at Florida Orthopaedic Institute’s Urgent Care?

As with any medical care, it is always recommended that you check with your insurance company to assure coverage.

How do I know when to go to the Florida Orthopaedic Institute’s Urgent Care instead of scheduling a clinic appointment with the Florida Orthopaedic Institute?

If you have a sudden injury as the result of an accident, sports, or other intense physical activity, then you will want to visit our Urgent Care center. These injuries include, but are not limited to, sprains and strains, closed fractures, minor dislocations, swollen or painful joints, and any sudden or severe pain. If you have an ongoing condition, a minor injury with minimal pain, or need to schedule a follow up visit, you can schedule an appointment at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute. If you have any questions regarding when to visit our Orthopaedic Care center, please call us at (813) 287-9372 to speak to one of our representatives.
