Castellvi, M.D.
Spine
Dr Castellvi is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in spine surgery. He has been with the Florida Orthopaedic Institute since 1993. Dr. Castellvi completed his medical education at the University of Zaragoza Medical School in Spain and graduated with honors. After completing his orthopedic residency at the University of South Florida, he completed a spine fellowship in at the University of Rochester in Rochester NY.
Dr. Castellvi has been practicing spine surgery since 1981, specializing in cervical, lumbar and thorocolumbar procedures, along with both pediatric and adult scoliosis.
Dr. Castellvi is board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Castellvi is an affiliated member of North American Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Medical Association and Florida Orthopaedic Society. He is an investigator in several research studies of the spine, including ongoing clinical research in bone grafts substitutes, scoliosis bracing and motion preservation in the lumbar spine.
Dr. Castellvi is both nationally and internationally recognized as an expert in the field of preservation of motion in the lumbar spine. He has presented his findings and work at over 50 conferences and meetings. He has great interest in the development of instrumentation and recently developed a cervical plate: he has other instrument designs including scoliosis instrumentation in various stages of development for the market.
